I was challenged by my blogging friend Elizabeth at All Kinds of Things to participate in the tour around blogland :). It’s a great opportunity for bloggers to share with each other and their readers what they are working on, and what they enjoy about blogging. So, here goes!
1) What am I working on?
As I am writing this, we are smack dab in the middle of our homeschool groups quarterly co-op. This year we are studying the Little House on the Prairie books and time period. We have been a lot of fun! However, it is also a lot of work.
My oldest daughters 10th birthday is coming up soon, so we are also in the planning stages of that. The theme-Little House on the Prairie 🙂 Yes, we are HUGE fans!
2) How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I’m not really sure. I don’t really compare myself to other bloggers in my genre, because there are so many awesome ladies out there. I think I would get intimidated! I will say that I strive to be honest and encouraging. But, I know most bloggers do the same :).
3) Why do I write what I do?
For me, it is an outlet. I have always loved to write, and blogging is one way I do that. I am NOT a journaler (is that a word? lol). That seems like work….but blogging doesn’t really. I enjoy doing it. Also, the Lord laid this blog on my heart months ago, and His hand has been on it throughout the whole process. I also really want to encourage moms through the journey of motherhood. The world tells us that moms who are “just moms” are not as important as those who strap on their suits and go to work every day. Our jobs are mundane, and not as fulfilling. This is a lie from Satan, every mom’s job is important. Whether she homeschools, is a stay at home mom, goes to work, works from home, or is a single mom her role as mom is ordained by God. I hope to encourage moms from all walks of life through this blog. I feel like God laid it on my heart as a ministry.
4) How does my writing/creating process work?
I try to write what the Lord lays on my heart. I do keep a list of ideas in my blog planner, and sometimes get writers block when I really feel led to write something, but don’t know if I want to “go there”. I have one of those posts drafted right now….
I try to get up early and write before the kids get up. Sometimes I work on blogging, sometimes freelancing, but early in the morning and late at night are my best times to write. Fewer distractions that way :).
