I shared last week that one thing I believe ALL homeschool moms need is encouragement. I believe this is true for moms regardless of their season of motherhood. However, I know that often times we don’t always GET it. We may not have that support system like other moms have. We may be new to an area and not know many other moms. We may be wounded from past experiences and hesitant to put ourselves out there. We may not be open with our friends or family and hide our discouragement with a smile on our face.
In all these situations it is important to still find that encouragement you so desperately need as a mom. It is important to feed ourselves with words that will inspire us and lift us up. It is important to find resources to encourage you on your journey as a mom.
I am going to share with you today some resources that will encourage moms at any stage of their journey.
This book changed the way I looked at motherhood. Seriously guys. It made me realize that this journey we are on as a mom is our mission field. And, our mission fields will all look different. If mine is different than the girl down the roads, so what? God called me to MY home with MY kids and HE knows what He is doing. If you ever find yourself questioning why you are “just a mom” I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this book.
I just finished this book for the second time with my online book group (if you’re interested check us out, our next selection is going to be awesome…:) ) . This book is for the mom who is DONE. She is BURNT OUT, OVERWHELMED, and ready to bolt. She is desperate and is not afraid to admit it. I also love how Sarah shares in this book that she didn’t come from the ideal Christian home. She had baggage, and that baggage was hard to overcome. It took her awhile to realize her mission as a mom, and she shares her experiences in a way that makes the rest of us breathe a sigh of relief.
I just entered the wonderful world of podcasts and am LOVING them! One podcast I am really enjoying is this one by Heather MacFadyen from God Centered Mom. I love that she is quick to admit she doesn’t have it all together and that she’s learning right along with us. She often has guests on her show and discusses topics that will encourage you on your journey as a mom while providing Godly wisdom that we all can use in our day to day lives.
I created this group for YOU the homeschool mom who needs to be encouraged on her journey. I check in live each week and discuss what’s going on in my life, and encourage you to keep on keeping on. The goal of the group is to encourage each other in our day to day lives and to build a community of homeschool moms who “get it” and can be real with each other in our struggles and triumphs. We share our confessions, our prayer requests, a peek into our real lives and fun things we are doing (or not doing) with our kids. I hope you can join us 🙂 I can honestly say these moms are becoming real friends that I would love to one day hug outside of the virtual world <3
